Man is born in sin (Psalm 51:5) — inherited from Adam and Eve who disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:17,24).
No sin can be allowed in Heaven — It is God's dwelling place and everything there is holy, perfect, pure, and clean (Revelation 21:27).
In order for man to qualify to enter Heaven, he must be rid of any and all sin in his life. This is only possible by the shedding of blood (Hebrews 9:22) — and Jesus shed His own blood for us on Calvary (1 John 1:7).
It is impossible for man to achieve this by himself. The Apostle Paul claims, "Not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith" (Philippians 3:9).
Jesus made it very clear to Nicodemus (a religious leader of that day) — "You must be born again" (John 3:7 — follow the entire discussion in John 3:1-16).
Paul the Apostle explained it to the Philippian jailer — "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31 — follow the entire story in Philippians 16:25-31).
To "be saved" is to be delivered from the penalty of sin and made righteous by the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross.
We must be delivered from the penalty of sin — "He who believes in Him is not condemned — but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (John 3:18). "He who believes in the Son HAS everlasting life — and he who does not believe the Son SHALL NOT see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" (John 3:36).
So, we find that there is a very simple, Biblical solution to the sin problem. Believe with all your heart (Acts 16:31) — confess your sin (1 John 1:9) — accept the finished work of Christ on the cross (John 19:30) — and rejoice in the blessed assurance that you are now a new creature in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17), having our sins blotted out by the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross.
Sincerely pray — right now — with the above admonitions — and rest in the knowledge that God heard your prayer and has brought you into His family — and then thank Him for the victory!
NOW — GROW, READ YOUR BIBLE, MEMORIZE VERSES, PRAY.
